The Spirit of God,
The Word of God,
And You!
A Powerful Combination!
By: Chris Chandler When Kristi and I were first touched by the Holy Ghost, a deep hunger began
to develop inside us for the word of God. More and more, the Holy Ghost began to open our eyes to all of God's promises. We began to find out that no matter how many promises that God has made in His word, the answer from Him will always be a resounding, "Yes!" Our part is to agree by saying, "Amen!" or "So be it!" (2 Corinthians 1:20)
With both God's Word and His Spirit, we are endued with power!God declares in His word that the Holy Ghost is our guarantee for every promise to come to pass.
2 Cor. 1: 21-22 (Amplified)
But it is God Who confirms and makes us steadfast and establishes us (in joint fellowship) with you in Christ, and has consecrated and anointed us, enduing us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
[He has also appropriated and acknowledged us as His], putting His seal upon us and giving us His (Holy) Spirit in our hearts as the security deposit and guarantee [of the fulfillment of His promise] .
Our Father in heaven wants us to live a prosperous and joyful life. He
guarantees these promises to us by His Spirit. There is no way that the enemy can stop us from having an abundant life if we will simply believe God's word. (John 10:10)
The Sword Of The Spirit
With both God's Word and His Spirit, we are endued with power. Both will cause a fire in your spirit that can't be put out. You will begin to burn with an intense desire to tell others about Jesus. God's word was not only meant to be in our hearts, but also in our mouths (Romans 10:8). Jesus said...
...For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. Matt. 12:34-35 NIV
The Holy Spirit wants to direct us in what we speak so that we can bear good fruit. To do this, He will write God's word on our hearts. (2 Cor. 3:3) He does this to enable us to speak His word with power. His word then becomes a deadly weapon to our enemy. Moreover, God has made available to us a language to speak that only He can understand! The Spirit can then speak through us the perfect will of God.
Ephesians 6:13-19 (NIV)Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.
God has given us His Word and His Spirit as powerful weapons for maintaining victory in our lives. God's word is alive and active and sharper than any two-edged sword. (Heb 4:12) Jesus said that His words are Spirit and life (John 6:62), and He spoke only those words which His Father taught Him. (John 8:28) We are to do likewise because He has sent the Holy Spirit to help us.
